OAK AND ALMOND TREE ( Coutry near Ventoux mount , Vaucluse )
FIRST DRAWING
An old Oak Tree grew alongside
An Almond tree
Buffeted by the onslaught of the icy winds
Were suffering throught this hard winter
"I've no need to shiver"
Commented the King of the forests
To his frozen neighbour.
"Stuff and nonsense" replied the Almond Tree
"Drop your hight and mighty attitude a little
You feed the wild boar with your acoms
So what !
Throughout the land ! give pleasure to all mankind
My buds will have blossomed
Well before your Spring awakening
My snow white flowers will have appeared
Long before you stir
And if, perchance, some sad day
I fall before the Mistral blow
I will live on .
Giving happiness throught the creative hand of the Qabinet Maker !
The Oak, offended by the rebuff
Suddenly straightened up
Resuming, with pride
His mighty stance .
